It did not take long for me to become engrossed in the book. I just had to see the movie so did prior to finishing the book. Glad I did; it did not ruin the book.
Having seen both the Ghent Alter Piece and Madonna in the Belgian churches I had no idea they had almost been lost to the world. Also travels have taken me to many of the areas in France and in Germany that are mentioned in the book.
What a great read and education at the same time!
The Smithsonian has an excellent article on the REAL Monument Men.
